7 Best Fall Scents - Your Guide to Candles: Autumn 2020

The weather is cooling off, it's getting dark earlier, and Starbucks has already released their Pumpkin Spice Latte. That only means one thing: it's time for fall candle scents to take center stage!

With so many different autumn candles out there, it can be hard to make up your mind which fall candles are the best. And for those of you who are interested in supporting small businesses and buying handmade candles, it can be even trickier to choose the best fall candle with so many in-person markets being cancelled. After all, how do you pick your new favorite fall soy candles without being able to smell them first? We're here to help with this guide to our best soy candles for fall.

1) Always Autumn

This Apples & Maple scented candle is a new one for us this year and is our female founder's new favorite! A new take on the apple fall fragrance, this upscale fragrance combines crisp apple notes with sweet maple and rich bourbon. So good it should be Autumn year-round! See where we went with the name...?

We've loved our other apple scented candle (Apple Harvest) so much since we started Scented Designs in 2016 that we never felt the need to bring you a new apple scent. For one reason or another, this year felt like the year to introduce this glorious new fall scent to our candle collection.

2) Pumpkin Everything

We've tried a variety of pumpkin scents over the years, and this one may be our new favorite. Not too sweet, Pumpkin Everything captures an incredible toasted pumpkin scent that's a must-have for fall. Top notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove are followed by a smooth middle of buttercream and pumpkin. Smoky and vanilla base notes are a warm twist to your regular Pumpkin fragrance. Seriously give it a try - you will not regret it.

3) Sweater Weather

This autumn candle is a customer favorite (year-round for some!). Picture walking along a dirt path through a canopy of trees covered in fall foliage. You know that fall smell that's in the air as you step on crunchy leaves? That's Sweater Weather. This inviting fragrance starts with top notes of cinnamon and citrus, blended with sweet apple and berries, all over a warm base of pecan and cedar. Mixing earthy outdoor notes with a festive spice blend, it's the perfect Autumn scent for a cozy evening in.

4) Spiced Cranberry

This autumn scent transitions easily into a winter scent for the holidays. It's a spicy blend of tart cranberries and zesty orange finished with notes of ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Yum! Originally a limited release, this candle became a customer favorite and we decided to bring it back each year as one of our best scented candles for fall or winter.

5) Apple Harvest

This spiced apple candle has been a best-seller since Scented Designs opened its doors in 2016. This delicious ripe apple fragrance combines cheery fruit notes with a scrumptious touch of spice. With this perfect fall or holiday scent, enjoy top notes of fresh apple & a hint of orange, with a spicy middle full of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg & ginger. Buy it as a candle jar, a candle tin, or in one of our adorable Apple Cider mug candles (looks and smells like one of your favorite fall beverages!).

6) Cashmere Plum

Another new candle scent of 2020 for Scented Designs, this fall soy candle embraces the cozy trend of Cashmere candles. Creamy and luxurious, this warm cashmere candle combines the sweetness of amber and vanilla with a subtle fruit blend of dark plum and black cherry. This soy candle is a unique take on a warm, comforting scent for cooler weather.

7) Pumpkin Chai

Another pumpkin candle variation, Pumpkin Chai is lighter and a bit sweeter than the toasted pumpkin spice of Pumpkin Everything. Overall, we've found Pumpkin Chai to be a  sophisticated fragrance with top notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel, clove, and black tea. The heart of the scent features baked pumpkin while graham crackers and vanilla create a creamy base. A new take on your typical pumpkin fragrance. Try it and Pumpkin Everything together to find your new Pumpkin favorite!
